Not All Pets
Are Dogs & Cats

We know that cats and dogs make great pets, but what about a pet that is small enough to fit in your hand? Small mammals and pocket pets are more popular than ever and Animal Kind Veterinary Hospital has the experience and expertise to help you take care of them.

Pocket pets include:

  • Gerbils
  • Ferrets
  • Hamsters
  • Guinea pigs
  • Rats
  • Mice
  • Rabbits

These animals are different from dogs and cats and are susceptible to different illnesses. They require special diets and special habitats. For example, rabbits need special dental care to keep their teeth clean and to make sure that they do not grow too long. Rats are prone to mammary gland tumors that may need to be removed. Many of these cute little pets are nocturnal, so they need a large cage habitat that allows them to roam around at night. Ferrets are required to be vaccinated for rabies.

When you have questions or concerns about taking care of your little friend, you can be sure that we have the answers for you.
